There are - as far as I can tell - some decent political leaders out there (and some in Parliament, at that). The current problem is the system of financing and very narrow membership base within the parties that has resulted in the current crop of non-leaders. Hopefully the pendulum might swing back at some point when the party faithful (on both sides) come to realise that they need a leader whose views/policies can potentially appeal to a majority of the electorate and not just narrow factions. Of course a more representative electoral system might help too!Wing Commander wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2019 7:58 pm 67.5m people in the UK and a somewhat disappointing selection of political leaders to choose from...

^^^ I think both main parties have some excellent characters within their ranks, but in my humble opinion, neither have appointed their best candidate to the top job within the party.

The problem is that both main parties are choosing 'leaders' who will do well in opinion polls and not who has good vision for the future of the country.
