Please ignore the below I've found the answer on good old Google. I did try to delete the post but I wasn't allowed.. Apologies....

Hi all.
I initially put this issue down to cold conditions or tyre pressure but would value your inputs please.

Recently my panamera feels like the front tyres are dragging when turning, it's only started to happen since the weather has turned. I've checked tyre pressure and they were a little low, so added some to get back to the mark but it's still happening.
It's not so bad when moving but even after an hours run at 60mph, when I come to pull into a parking space you can literally feel the front end skip.

Now, I have, for once in my car ownership life, purchase a set of 20 inch winter wheels and tyres for this car, 680bhp on summer tyres seems like a recipe for disaster to me.. Honestly, I will probably not use this car over all of the winter period but thought the wheels and tyres made sense. The reason I'm telling you this is if because my above issue is inflation / temperature / size of profile and power related, then hopefully the winter set may fix or at least make it better.

Yes, a very common problem, more so on some cars than others and also some tyre makes more prone than others. Owners often first experience this with the onset of colder weather if they bought their car in the summer months.

And yes, winter tyres will reduce this effect.

Lots of info on the web under ‘Ackermann’ or ‘reverse Ackermann’.

Good old Ackerman geometry - happens on majority of sports cars with low profile/wide tyres - Pirelli PZeros seem to be the major culprit on my Cayman and my wife's JCW in colder weather.

Thanks. Yes, this is the site I found and read to satisfy me that it wasn't a problem that needed fixing..
Honestly, it's a horrible feeling and sound.. Winter wheels going on the car on Friday.. Looking forward to having them now.

My Macan has just done it again this morning for the first time since last Winter.

Cold rubber and Pirelli Pzero 21" tyres. Every year the same.....

I swopped the 718 from PZeros to Michelin PS4S in the summer. I have yet to hear the dreaded ackerman skip.

Pirelli PZeros seem to be particularly bad. Truly awful on the 911 and I thought my Cayman was bad!

Good to hear, Happy. I plan on swapping to Michelin PS4S tyres when my Pirelli P-Zeroes need replacing. :geek:

The answer is - don't use low-profile tyres. To me they just do not make sense.
