Erm probably not ... nowadays it's like you said just go! The rev counter shows on the heads up display in Sport.

and does the heads up one rotate the "right way"?

I had auto E91 and F31 320D's before my Macan facelift petrol S. In all three cars there are times I use the rev counter . Probably more in the BMW's than the Macan. With the diesel engines of the Macans if out of traffic on a nice road, I would drive them using the paddles but with the car set in "sport" for suspension and engine response. The 320D's were at their best with the revs between 1500 and 3000 and if left to itself the gearbox would take the revs to higher less efficient less sweet sounding levels. The Macan PDK makes better more appropriate decisions well tied to driving mode and I only drive in manual mode when there is gain is to be made from seeing the future road shape bends and height etc

The digital layout takes these cars into a different dimension. Very tempting indeed.

I've had many beemers including a 330d saloon x-drive which was superb. If I go back to saloons or coupes it will be a Beemer but the grill will have to be black especially with the newer ones which are awful. X3 didn't float my boat hence the Macan.
Dolomite Silver 'S' with red leather 14 way seats, Pano roof, Bose, Air suspension with pasm, Chrono pack, PDLS, Surround view, 911 turbo wheels, heated screen, spare wheel, ioniser,75 lt tank, black tail pipes, black roof rails.

It's a 4401 3ltr straight six, so fast enough (well almost!), for us two oldies who drive into Europe several times a year, in Sept we went to The Pyrenees, up some of their highest peaks, great driving roads. It's a looker as well I think, I wanted a Boxster but luggage capacity was not adequate for Mrs B, she doesn't compromise. After a Panamera it's so small, nimble and rapid. Winter wheels & tyres now fitted for a trip to The Black Forest next month, I really hope I'll need them. I'll be back in a Macan when I can.
