I did both two years ago. There is a cafe in the museum and also a shop.

The museum was excellent and has many unique cars to see.

The factory tour is pretty much what you can see on a YouTube video.

I would suggest that you go to the museum, forgo the factory tour and instead go to see either the Staatsgalerie (designed by an English architect - see late 1990’s TV commercial for the Rover 800 series - or the Fernsehturm TV tower which gives a great view over Stuttgart. There’s also a nice park across from the tower that you can walk through.
So when is this ‘old enough to know better’ supposed to kick in ?

I really enjoyed and appreciated the factory tour and I learnt a lot about the Porsche way of producing cars, which is different from the major mass assembly plants. Our guide was very knowledgable and able to answer all our questions, which a Youtube video can't!

Thinking back, the factory tour I went on was limited because they were building the new hall for the Taycan and quite a bit was 'off limits', so the latest tour might be different.

Just after some booking advice please as their website doesn’t offer any pre-book options as far as I can tell.
Looking at Tuesday 14th or Wednesday 15th so assume it’ll be open?
Any age restrictions for kids?Assume I can do the museum & add on a factory tour?If so, 911/718 or Taycan factory tour? Thanks.
I went 2 years ago, the museum is not very big. 1-2 hrs will be enough for most people, even Porsche fanatics. You could always rent one their new cars for an hour or two, all lined up outside, pre-booking is essential and prices were high! I did the Leipzig factory tour with lunch and next day a visit to nearby Colditz Castle.

From Stuttgart, a far better day out for a group like yours would be Sinsheim transport museum, about 50K north of Stuttgart ...........

You can climb up to the cockpits of the Concorde and Konkordski. There is plenty of parking space, a 3D iMax and a decent cafe. The main hall has loads of WW2 stuff, mostly German and Russian, including a massive steam loco, the other hall under the Concordes has all the modern stuff, lots of F1 cars and unusual one-off vehicles. It's the best transport museum I have ever seen, beautifully presented.

They also have a Hotel with spa and sauna, and a theme park nearby, details on their website.

That place does look good rolo, but I am actually staying in Munich and was going to take the train to Stuttgart as part of a day out. I think with the Sinsheim being 50km further North I may have to re-think.
Might just stay in Munich and travel to Stuttgart when the kids are older.

BMW World (free, with plenty for kids to do and see) and adjacent BMW museum (pay to enter) worth a visit in Munich. Just a short U-bahn ride from the centre.
