I'd wager that if you bought one now, in 10 years that will be a classic and buyers will be biting your arm off to buy it. I specced one up to 74k and it still seems a bargain(in Porsche World of course).

I do see Porsche developing in two separate directions. One will be ever more extreme halo models, the 911 and Boxster / Cayman lines bought by a few and another line of battery cars living on the image of the former and bought by the many. This is why all talk of hybrid technology has been deleted from the 911 and it will be left to simply be what does best, be a pure sports car.

The price trend for these cars could be very interesting.

Whilst on a ten-year timescale I might agree, will not there ultimately come a time when ICE cars banned from all urban areas and petrol cars and the petrol outlets to run them few and far between? How much will the collectors market be for cars primarily sitting in a heated garage to preserve them

I would suggest that ICE powered cars will be here for many years yet. And the fuel stations to service them.

Pure BEV will not be a panacea for all for a very long time if ever IMO. Many people do not have facility to charge overnight. The public infrastructure will not be able to cope with the millions of vehicles in GB.

Solid state, muche smaller sized / lower weight and with a 5 minute max recharge time would fix it..

But hey who knows. For example the way the music world has gone with vinyl, tape, cartridge, CD, MP3, stick, download....so many advocates for each over the years and yet so much change .....and vinyl back in favour again now with the collectors!

With the newest trend for “self-charging hybrids” seeming to have found favour, I can’t see petrol stations closing any day soon.

(Self-charging hybrids? You know, those eco friendly electric cars ......with a petrol engine, that you can’t actually plug in anywhere.....😳)

My understanding is they do not meet the spec for only EV cars from 2030 or whenever the date currently is. Plug-in I understand currently do.

We've been told we've got a slot but will be towards the end of the year. Now need to decide if we go Cayman or Boxster.
