My uncle had a 2.8i

Rolled it with sunroof open so now has massive dent in his head !

Rebuilt with 5 speed box etc

Later replaced with a special

Yes they were cool. If I remember they were good in a straight line but less so on corners. Something to do with the weight of the "Kent" engine I think.

Yes, true, although fun getting the tail out to offset that understeer! But the ‘cool’ factor was all about that sleek design and the muscle car image, especially the three litre variants. Great engine and exhaust note too.

Had a Lotus Cortina (Saw a mint restored one for sale recently @65k!), then a mk1 Mexico Escort, really wanted an RS3100 Capri but never managed it, Great memories but all look really dated now.

A walk around the classic car show in Birmingham will bring the rose tints dream cars of your youth down to earth with a bump. Nice to see but a world away from todays most ordinary cars.
