One irony I find is that the broader general public could likely not even tell the difference between a base Macan and a Turbo. In fact, most people think my car is a Cayenne! We exist as a small microcosm of enthusiasts on this forum.

Yes, also find most people that comment on my Macan think it's a Cayenne. It's sapphire blue and Cayennes don't come in that colour!!
Us enthusiasts know that and probably most of the other differences but as you say we are a minority group.

..although there was a Sapphire Cayenne in the showroom in Bristol yesterday, complete with roof box and cycle rack on the tow-bar........

Completely agree Doug and Rab.

I simply cannot understand why anyone would buy a Porsche and not have it fitted with the extras that make its performance and handling the best it can be.

...? but then categorically refuse to take it onto a track to exploit and fully experience all the performance and handling........?

I'd say air springs give you ride height adjustability. If you shorten the springs in a car, it'll be stiffer.

As far as any wallowing, that can be dialed out by setting the PASM to Sport or Sport Plus. I believe people
who've experienced wallowing have their AS set to the default and PASM to comfort (or soft).

In my MT, I've set the ride height to low and the PASM to sport. I've occasionally used Sport Plus, although
for most of my driving I have the PASM set to Sport.

Same here: normally I drive my MT in low and pasm sport. No wallowing. When doing longer (over two hours) highway trips: normal height and pasm normal for uptimum comfort. When in snow: offroad button.

I love the air. It just adds an extra dimension to the ride.

Has this thread been resurrected after a year because of Hallowe'en?
