Hi John P your post is so very correct in Edinburgh the council had where possible widened the pavements so where we previously had 2 lanes for vehicles and areas where the local buses could pull in to pick up passengers now the following traffic has to stop so thereby increasing pollution.This bright idea was implemented by a Transport Professor who advises the Government ( or used to).These decisions have actually increase pollution and frustration to road users

Its not just Edinburgh, we all suffer from bad road design
