Does it really matter?

Its not the sprint that is important its the on the move acceleration that matters.

And that is where the SD lets itself down or rather its where Porsche lets the SD down.

Low speed its fine but at Mway speeds its lacking.

I personally have not found it to be lacking. At mway speeds, it seems all too easy to be doing way beyond the speed limit very quickly and without even realising it given the refinement and the way it picks up speed. Biggest problem I actually find is finding somewhere to actually enjoy the capabilities the car has. Driving in London and then mostly on dual carriageway or motorways doesn't really give the car opportunity to show its potential.
No longer part of the Porsche Family. Now enjoying a Giulia Quadrifoglio.

You weren't posting on Pistonheads the other day were you? Someone was complaining about SD being mundane - as suggested there, try a Kia Sportage for a few weeks then go back to SD

I think I may have before re my previous SD....the only time I found it "lacking" on the motorway was in France at a toll booth grand prix where, yes, into 3 figures (miles not km) it does tail off - hardly a huge issue in 99.99% of normal circumstances (well, 100% actually!)

As an overall package yes.

Those who think that the SD engine is great I urge you to test drive an X3 with the 35D engine, then come back and report on what you then think.

Sadly Col, if you decide to buy the BMW 35D engine, it comes with an X3 fitted around it.....what you get in a Macan is the Audi / Porsche 3.0 V6 D ....that's just the way it is.

+1

That's one ugly/boxy car.

The X1 in black reminds me of the Anthill mobs car from wacky races. Showing my age
