The sad news of the passing of John Surtees. Perhaps the most overlooked multiple world champion ever.

Sad news indeed - a true legend.

Shame that he didn't stay with Ferrari longer

World Champ on two and four wheels - something that will probably never be repeated.

Watched the Surtees documentary on BBC4 last night, didn't realise just how successful he was and what a humble chap!
Some of his cars and bikes must be worth millions.

+1 Midas. And despite his success and his charitable work was never significantly honoured. In today's world what would 6+1 WCs be worth.

I was fortunate to be in his company in a launch for Monroe Shock Absorbers at a motor trade venue in Grangemouth Scotland many many years ago probably early sixties. A true Gentleman mixed with the trade customers in a very informal manner chatted to most of my customers a very enjoyable evening in the company of a TRUE GREAT really very sad he did not receive the recognition he should have. Very much doubt any other will emulate him
