Just read on a news feed this morning, that the Government are extending a law, in relation to parking. There will be an overall blanket ban on any wheel of a car, that is parked on a footpath/pavement, anywhere. It went on to say that this includes any bad parking where even a small part of the wheel is so aprked due to bad driving. Apparently it is already in force in parts of London. I'm sure many people so park, where it is not too bad, to ease the free flow of traffic.
Those councils have got to get some money from somewhere.
Possible new laws.
And clearly not taking their cues from European cities where parking on pavements etc is de rigour.

I’d actually be in favour of them coming down on muppets who don’t seem to know where the kerb is and thus cause problems on narrow streets for other residents, not mention the potentially lethal consequences of restricting access to emergency vehicles.

The OP missed one word from his post: the Government are "considering" extending the ban on pavement parking from London to the rest of the country. Given all the other things going on it could be some time before such a change becomes law.

The headline thread, did quote. Possible new laws.
And actually currently it is an offence to park on the pavement anyway......

Paul, I think you might find that the specific offence, is to prevent free passage of said pavement. ie, to cause an obstruction on it. I think, for builders skips etc, the local council, may have to give permission. Then there is other criteria in relation to the skip, that has to be fulfilled.
