So, today I went shopping to Cardiff and I would say that it was a success. Came back with a 16-plate 991.2 Carrera S with only 7,000 miles on the clock: 8-)

and it was a very sad goodbye to the Macan Turbo. What a machine, just too big and heavy for my liking.
Initially, driving along the M4, I thought I had made a big mistake as the Macan is such a luxury cruise liner.

Your post seems to end rather negatively.

Is your initial regret still lingering this morning Semerka?

Hello Makanik, my Macan was more luxurious inside and it’s of course a much quieter and substantial car. I was driving the same 110 mile stretch of the M4 there and back yesterday in each car, so was thinking, being used to the near silent cruising in the Macan, that I would regret the swap.

But once I got off the motorway my doubts vanished. I love being back in a small, lightish, low car as my everyday chariot. Amongst other reasons because I can reach the roof and all of the windscreen when I wash them. [emoji38] I would have liked a manual Carrera S, but they are like a hen’s teeth or very basic spec. [emoji23]

To conclude, I am really chuffed. [emoji41]

Although Arif has it down to a fine art! ;)

Wishing you many happy miles in the smart blue Turbo! 8-)
I guess you know about spur-of-the-moment car swapping. 😉
Hey Semerka. Just recalling our posts of 2 years ago!!

Many congrats on your upgrade! ;)

IMHO there is nothing to match the feel and look of a 911. And I love the silver exterior (GT?) with the red interior! Gorgeous! And with only 7k miles! Barely run in!

And as you rightly say, a motorway journey is not the best method of enjoying a 911 to the full. Corners, twists and turns are mostly where the magic happens!

Would be great to hear about your new car's spec.

Enjoy! :D

Fantastic transition Semerka, congrats.

My frontal cortex is happy with Macan S, but I am well aware that my lizard-brain wants a 911, so I will be following your impressions with keen interest.

Congratulations, Semerka! Lovely looking car and you will doubtless develop a very special bond with it. I love mine to bits and it never fails to put a smile on my face.

Thank you all for the kind words.

@WingCo - it is Rhodium silver, I would have preferred GT silver, but in the 2nd hand car market one has to adapt their wishes, hehe. The all over red leather interior, which includes door card strips and the backs of the seats, is actually a nice place to be for me. It changes hue from deep dark red to a brighter one depending on the light.

Sadly the car developed a fault, a suspected turbo seal oil leak, so it is now being recovered to be fixed. That's perhaps the pitfalls of low mileage cars that are not used enough, so some components like seals can harden up. So chaps and chapesses, use your cars as they are meant to be used. 😃

I will report on the spec later. 😃

WingCo definitely uses his as intended. All joking aside, Semerka, these cars are meant to be used and you make a very valid point. Hopefully a simple fix for you.
