Glad to hear she’s fixed, have a nice run back!
Yes, that’s what I do. Perhaps the first owner didn’t. At least I can now start afresh with a fresh pair. [emoji38]

Aachen has lots of interesting stock.
One one 718 in the whole showroom!

Stats from mostly very sensible drive to Calais.

It was a Long day Paul!

Thanks WIngco :D

We made it in good time, so jumped on a 30min earlier train. Always feels good to get ahead on the way home.

There’s a new restaurant near home, so I thing we might be stopping off there (or favourite curry house) :P

Iva has taken the wheel for this leg, so I’ll have a nap I think 8-)

The Germans are not shy about colours when speccing their cars. Quite a few unusual colour combos of 991s in the showroom's approved used section. :)

It was a very long day, but it was worth going to get Ruby. Apparently it would take 2/3 weeks to get her back home via a recovery truck (plus the worry of a potential damage).

We took 3 trains, one tube and one taxi and took in total 7 hours to get to Aachen from home. The drive home was exactly 7 hours too!

Any repairs are logged into a central database, so Aachen knew exactly what Guildford had replaced a month ago. Very good system, I'd say. 8-)

One thing we noticed driving back is how having the satnav screen (PCM) low down seems archaic.
After driving new courtesy cars from Mercedes, Audi, Vauxhall, Hyundai and Ford in the last month and a half, the stuck-on-iPad does make sense for the viewing angle because the screen does not get obstructed by your left hand on the steering wheel. So I have change my opinion on those a bit.

A couple of snaps:

A very comfy and fast ICE train on the Deutsche Bahn from Brussels to Aachen:

Liege train station, with it's amazing canopy:

And there she is in the Aachen rain:
