The weather's starting to cool here in Bucharest (thankfully) so last weekend I managed to get away on a little local road-trip! Busy uploading photos, but here's a 'look forward'!

We drove direct from our home in Bucharest hence approached from the South (sunny) side. The pass will probably close in a few days time as the weather closes in, hence wanting to go last weekend. This had other advantages as most of the tourists had left, but there were still a few tour buses to overtake. A view looking southwards from about half way up:

Really stunning photos, Guy!
Not many views like that near Swindon!

Then when you get to the very top (about 4 hours total from Bucharest) you drive through a tunnel and emerge on the much colder (close to zero) North side. Here's a picture of my wife (centre) for the family album: (You can clearly see the weather starting to close in - made it just in time! There's also salt thrown on the road just in front of the car - must've been colder earlier)
And just after I took the picture above, she took one of me!
OK so I'm up on the ridge, camera in hand, wishing I'd taken a coat and some walking boots! Clearly the chap in the foreground is wishing he had a Macan!
And here's a few shots from half way down on the North side - you can see the road in the background on the first:
And my wife likes taking 'arty' shots at obscure angles:
Whereas my more limited imagination forces me to hold the camera level ... The weather obviously improved as we got lower.
