Appologies on my missing everything for the last month I'm just coming to terms with my loss of my cherished Macan Turbo.

My only consolation has been I'm still in a German 5 door hatchback, with 7 gears 5 seats 200 bhp per ton, many goodies and race mode. :D

So on my new limited budget I'm well happy so far.

Jon just wondered what other options you considered before choosing the Golf.

Cheers

Hi Rams

Test drove quite a few alternative vehicles before deciding on the R.

Focus RS was first on my radar.
I love Fords and have run Ford commercial all my working life.
The short of it was the Focus RS test drive was great very impressed but I could not live with the suspension or a manual gearbox with my left side and arm disability .

Next was the V8 mustang with Auto which was not for me at all.

Nismo RS at 22k was a great bargain not Quite right either.

X3 335d which I did like but after SUV'S I wanted a change no other BMW for 30k excites.

Test Drove the golf R on 19" wheels and couldn't believe how compliant it was after the Focus RS on 19"s even in comfort. So as an all rounder the Golf is great and ticks all my boxes.

Jon

+1. I genuinely hope that you keep in touch, Jon. It would be good to meet at a future forum get together. And I'm not totally convinced that you'll never own another Porsche! ;)

Cheers WINGCO that's very kind.. My dream as a teenager was to own a Porsche Turbo it just happend to turn out to be a Macan not the carrera on my bedroom wall. Still it was closer than the other poster of Boe Derick... I think she was taken

A Porsche Carerra of the same vintage as the one in the poster on Jon's wall would still look as good today as when it was made. Unfortunately, humans (including a 10 like Bo Derek) tend to look older :( .
