Bummer!

My daughter had a similar incident in her 67-reg. VW Tiguan a few days after they got it. She was parked in the nursery car park when another
"mummy" reversed and swung in to the n/s/f door. "Oh! It'll polish out" she says. Well no, a new door etc was needed resulting in an £1800 bill plus 4 days car hire claimed against the 3rd parties insurance.

Just finished a long phone conversation with OPC Tewkesbury, their insurance claims handlers and briefly the DVLA, Kitty is booked in with the bodyshop - some place in Swindon - for Monday! Impressed!

It has a GTechniq coating which I presume has to be stripped off before any repainting. So who re-applies it etc?

☹️👎
Feel for you Mike; Mrs P’s BMW had the same damage done when parked up in our local garden centre a while back. Funnily enough whoever it was didn’t leave a note😡 - luckily only the plastic bumper got scuffed and not into the wheel arch like yours (but it still cost us as there was no point in going through our insurance.....☹️)

The various scrapes etc I've had were all done when parked. A week before I got the Macan a neighbour's daughter who'd only recently passed her test just simply drove into the front nearside of our TT - which was due to be handed back! - without any good reason.

But the best was about 3 years ago when TT was parked underground at Waitrose. There was a slight water leak from some pipes in the ceiling that mixed with pigeon poo, and etched a lovely pattern in the bodywork! Privelege were a complete waste of space telling me that it was pointless expecting Waitrose to do anything about it. It took me about 12 months to get the repair money back - and not via Privelege! I'm now with the NFU!

Sorry to hear about kitty !

Which coating did you have applied CS (by approved Gtechniq detailer) or the CS Light , because CS will need machine sanding to get it off.

Crystal Serum - a coating so hard that if applied can only be removed by using 1,500 grit sand paper.

Crystal Serum Light offers 80% of Professional Serum’s performance, but if applied can be machine polished from your vehicle’s paintwork.

If Kitty is CS'd it would need an accredit detailer to reapply it, if it CS light well anybody can apply that with the right skills and it is readily available off the internet including Gtechniq themselves, so there might be a bit more cost.

Thanks Spook. Don’t know is the answer. I’ll have to contact the detailer - perhaps he can get involved?

Very sorry to hear/see this, Mike. :(

Ah, your car will be off to Dick Lovett Spraymaster in sunny Swindon! 😎 They retro-fitted the Sport Design pack to my 911.
