Im losing the will to live
Those who may have read my previous posts have noted I've had a lot of issues with my Macan, most sorted under warranty. The most recent being the headlight issue which cost me over £700 to resolve.

Ive been out in HKG since 11/10/20 and the MacanDS has been sat on the drive since then.

I asked SWMBO to use it today and give it a run (She has her own new car she prefers) and I've just received a FaceTime call to inform me a large crack has appeared in the windscreen!

It starts at the bottom right corner (looking from the drivers seat) in a circa 40 degree angle through the drivers view and about a foot in length (at the moment) FFS. Theres no evidence of impact at either end.

Anyone know the cost of a replacement windscreen out of interest? Ill end up using the insurance option i guess but just interested if anyone else has had a replacement.

The straw that breaks the camels back is quickly approaching.

£50 excess on your insurance or a bill running to near £1000 I would imagine. Easy choice.

I couldn’t find much info in the search so used google and some posts from this forum popped up.

Seen prices from £1100 up to over £2000 being quoted on the threads, for recalibration etc....

With almost all UK insurance, there is a reduced excess for replacing the windscreen (eg Direct Line charge £75) provided you use their approved repairer. I had the windscreen on my SD replaced by Autoglass and had absolutely no complaints. I had to take the car to one of their main repair locations because of the need to recalibrate the in screen cameras and everything was handled very professionallly.

A cracked windscreen can happen on any car so don't hold it against your Macan.

I appreciate that i do. But do you ever get the feeling that when issues just keep happening and most are warranty and some arguably poor design but costing you it just starts to get you down.
My Macan DS is becoming an unnecessary luxury/expense and feels like a ‘Friday’ car  but what to change it for?????

I had a new screen fitted by Autoglass under my insurance policy £75 xs as they were “approved” and fully re-calibrated by them at the same time.

I had my screen go Tuesday evening this week on the M25. I’ve now got a bullseye on the screen about the size of a fist.
LV have said I can pay the access £195 and auto glass can do it or for an extra £200 it can go into my Opc and they can replace it for me. I know they will sub it out but moving forward a non Porsche screen will invalidate my warranty. £200 for a few days in a courtesy car doesn’t seem bad. I’ve had everything from a 911 to a cayman in the past so will probably take that route myself. I’m just glad it didn’t hit the bonnet. Every cloud!!

Bit of a coincidence!
A previous post describes a windscreen failure much as I had. Vehicle parked on street, weather mild and dry. No evidence of impact. Could feel the crack on outside but not inside. Replacement through local OPC costing NFU around £1300.

How would the OPC know?
