LV have said I can pay the access £195 and auto glass can do it or for an extra £200 it can go into my Opc and they can replace it for me. I know they will sub it out but moving forward a non Porsche screen will invalidate my warranty. £200 for a few days in a courtesy car doesn’t seem bad. I’ve had everything from a 911 to a cayman in the past so will probably take that route myself. I’m just glad it didn’t hit the bonnet. Every cloud!!
Why do you say a non Porsche screen will invalidate your warranty?

I’ve now had an Autoglass replacement screen longer than the original, 12 months vs 5 months. This is my work car so it has covered about 14k in that time. It is heated & has all the usual sensor doodahs. It’s marked Saint-Gobain which lots of forum posters say is the OEM supplier. It has been no problem at all, except I had to drive 25 miles to their workshop & wait whilst they fitted it.

Seemed a bit over the top to me Tbh. What the Opc actually said was I wouldn’t be able to extend the warranty. I can’t see why a different screen would have an impact on a transfer box claim if that was to arise. but I’d sooner be safe than sorry. Another option given was auto glass could get an original screen, no one would be any the wiser then. Not sure if there is extra cost above what they would usually fit though.

A previous post describes a windscreen failure much as I had. Vehicle parked on street, weather mild and dry. No evidence of impact. Could feel the crack on outside but not inside. Replacement through local OPC costing NFU around £1300.

Yes, that is pretty much identical. My car had been parked up since October 11th.
I’ve had a quote from my local OPC at a little over £1500 fitted & calibrated.

Don't forget Porsche don't actually make windscreens.

I could be wrong but I don't think there are enough Macans in the UK to justify an independent manufacturer setting up to supply the replacement screen market. It's more likely that the likes of Autoglass source their screens from the OEM supplier.

When my screen went, I contacted Autoglass and told them I needed a Porsche replacement windscreen because I have a Porsche extended warranty. They got approval for the Porsche part from Autoglass and booked me in to one of their centres to do the replacement and recalibration. Excellent service and perfect job.

If I hadn't asked, they would have fitted an alternate windscreen.

The new (from 2019) Porsche 'Heated Windscreen' has a gel, sandwiched between two layers of glass. It's very effective, but would Autoglass be able to replace it ?

Yes, they’d get it from Porsche if they had no alternative supply. Mine came from Porsche when Autoglass did it back in Jan.

Well, new windscreen fitted & calibrated, etc.
Was a very painless (no pun intended) experience and everything was done in house, they even had a ‘contract’ with the insurance company so I did nothing but pay the £50 excess.

I had the obligatory call beforehand from the sales guys asking if I’d like them to look at a purchase price/trade in, I wasn’t fussed as I knew what the outcome would be before they even looked so I just said go-ahead. Lo & behold it was the usual low ball offer and they were surprised by my response 🤣 I’m sure these sales guys are so used to dealing with the wealthy who don’t really care about trade in prices and just want the next shiny new motor that when someone like me knocks them back they are ‘surprised’
