Initially, your posts indicate a battery well down on charge. Based on my experience with my SD it takes at least an hour's run at cruising speeds to bring the battery up to full charge.

The fact that a fuse in the air suspension circuit had "blown" means that either the fuse expired due to old age or there was an excessive current drain (a continuous current at or close to the fuse capacity will shorten fuse life). This could be what pulled your battery down (though as has been said above at five years the battery could be approaching it's life expiry). Unfortunately, if the OPC found a blown fuse and everything worked after replacing it then that's likely to be the extent of their fault finding.

In an ideal world, the battery should be fully charged up and then "load" tested which will show whether or not the battery is life expired. If the battery is OK then the search will be for a current drain. The reason for the "beep" on locking should be investigated. You said the hazards flashed, did you try the doors to see if the car had actually locked?
Should have clarified. I drove for 45 minutes and 15 min idle

Sorry, yes, all was locked. I did it a few times.
editing to add. You're probably right, once the fuse was changed, that was it.

I still notice the car air compressors running when the car is just shut off.

Maybe there is more to it.

Anyway. Recovery tomorrow morning and hire car.

If you don't have Porsche extended warranty, Costco are good for car batteries. Bosch lists it as a S4 001 and circa £50

Thanks. I have the warranty, which was the only reason I bought the car at OPC.

Sorry, alarm bells started ringing when I saw this is not an AGM battery and I understand my 2019 Macan S is fitted with an AGM battery but I do get the same answer S4 from the actual Bosch site.

viewtopic.php?t=5264

when I go on Tanya and say Macan and AGM type I get this -

Code: Select all

https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/bosch/s5a13/
Yes even more confusingly Bosch's own site says there AGM batteries are categorised as S6

Code: Select all

https://www.boschautoparts.com/en/auto/passenger-batteries
from Google
Is an AGM battery worth the extra money?
Definitely worth the price. The biggest perk is they hold their charge. You can charge it in the fall, come spring it's still 100% charged. I know mine has lasted quite a bit longer than my old lead batteries…that said, I never spent the money on lead then I now do on AGMS"
"

I have just looked at my Good to know app and certainly for a 2019 car it says only replace the battery with an AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) one. So for a 2019 car (and I suspect 2015 car) the Bosch site conflicts with Porsche's own advice, (never mind warranty requirements?)

Thinking about it I suspect my own experience of batteries lasting longer coincides roughly with the timing of BMW moving to AGM

Make sure you mention that to the OPC. There might be a leak in the suspension system which is the cause of your battery running down. I don't know how long the self-levelling system remains active after you turn off the ignition.

That’s normal with air suspension but should shut down within a couple of minutes max.

If you get a chance, look at the MFD when locking the car (through the window) - I suspect it is popping up an error telling you what it thinks is open.

Update. Car at OPC since Monday. Looks like something is off in the suspension components. They have ordered parts.

Let's see.

Meanwhile they gave me a glorious Panamera Sport Turismo for the day or two and I now want one. They know what they are doing !
