I was originally advised 0w-30 for topping up my 2019 car but recently checked the label and "Good to Know" and both state 0w-20 which is what I have now been advised will be used during the oil change at my OPC

this link explains the advantages of 0w20 and hence why Porsche may have switched.

I've only just noticed that the sticker inside the bonnet of my 2019 Macan S advising using SAE 0W-30 oil, has been removed. That could only have happened during its first service at my OPC; but why wasn't I told ? Up to now, I've been topping up twice with SAE 0W-30 oil before its first 20,000 mile service, having had a complete oil change at 12,000 miles with SAE 0W-30 oil by my independant mechanic, and have bought another 1 litre container of the stuff for topping up (is it safe to mix it with SAE 0W-20 oil, I wonder ?)

Thanks pmg. It does seem that SAE 0W-20 oil has benefits over 0W-30 oil. Just wonder why there was a sticker under the bonnet when the car was new, advising SAE 0W-30 oil, which overrode the owner's manual. The sticker has been removed, presumable during the car's first service at 20,000 miles, but why the OPC didn't mention this, I don't know: it's not even mentioned on the invoice.

I think these are all marginal changes and topping up or using 0w - 30 rather than 0W -20 is not going to do any major harm. From 2019 cars onwards it is probably more important to ensure the oil C20 or C30 rather than A20 or A30 as the latter may harm the particulate filter or to put it another way I would use a C30 oil way before an A20 one , the C requirement on the engine sticker matters far more.

The Porsche A and C gradings I understand reflect different sulphur/impurity levels in the oil that is different to a viscosity grading like 0w20 or 0w30

My Macan S has a Mobil 1 sticker under the bonnet, but no viscosity label, wonder if the OPC removed it when I bought it, and the car had it’s first service.

Many cars, including mine from new, don't have a label giving specifics, just one stating Mobil 1. I don't know when the factory started adding the additional information. Possibly since GPFs were fitted?
