Update…
All now resolved via - after a bit of investigation - the very understanding independent.
Apparently the extraction tool - a standard VW item - was faulty. This was discovered by the independent walking through the process.
So both centre parts of the callipers now replaced FOC. Not the cover plates but the entire central section. These are a standard VW/AUDI part. Had it been an Audi the cover only would have been available.
