Just been on the Cazoo site and they state (my italics)

"If you need any repair work carried out, we have a national network of Service Centres that you can visit. We offer a hassle-free service and all of the parts we use are manufacturer approved."

So you may have recourse back to them to change the battery to Porsche approved
Top work! Fingers crossed it works, think a beer should be on its way to you if it does.

Would be better if it said “ all of the parts we use comply with manufacturers approved warranties”

I saw a car a Macan SD on kazoo the close up pics of the wheels displayed different brand tyres front / back never mind any “ N “:rating .Not saying they fitted them but they did not change them either .Happy to let it go out like that .

Cazzos cop out with the batt , pretty much like tyres will be it came in with that we did not fit said part(s) .Onus / hassle is on you to prove otherwise. Then if you win that battle get them in the mood to replace it with the special Porsche batt .

In my view the onus and financial responsibility to get it up to the 111 point pass level is on the new owner be it tyres / batts or what ever .They did not sell it inferring it was at passing the 111 point test at Porsche .They are saying cars are checked and mot ed were appropriate given a service by there own guys using there own criteria which they big up as an important plank in the sales pitch .A sales pitch to probably less knowledgeable folks with regards to cars .

I mean who would buy a Ferrari 488 , Aston or Bentley off cazoo freshly Serviced by them ? A stamp in the book by them ! Urgh .

Porsche owners even the Macan range are not quite up there with Ferrari / Aston / Bentley in terms of rabbit holes to fall into , but they certainly are not fords or Peugeots . Macan sit in a grey area .Some like me go through an OPC , others cazoo .

What detriment is cazoo stamp / invoice in a Macan SH .
Or turned around what value has a OPC or marque specialist stamp ?

When I looked about a month ago I paid £4 K more for a SD from a OPC than cazoo .It came with new tyres , front disks / pads , rear pads + calipers ( disks last yr ) , new wheel centres , new front upper control arms and of course the 2 yr warranty.
I bought a 3 rd year .Fresh service new stamp new mot , my plates made up with the OPC name on .
The batt is new ish too fwiw .The ad blue injector looks just out the box too inc fresh finger marks on the turbo.

Turn key never been out of the OPC network .

So I think i am quids in ahead if you tot all that up .Just turned up and drove off .

I do agree with you that a Macan with a Cazoo stamp in the service book is a bad idea. In my case, I did my homework, I found out which OPC supplied the car and carried out its first service, I phoned them and got the history and a spec sheet, I also phoned RedLine Porsche specialist who carried out the second service in May 21 at four years old. Up to this point the car had no issues. Shortly after the first and only owner sold the car to Cazoo and I bought it due to the fantastic spec and the colour I wanted.
So, without trying to justify my purchase to anyone, I bought a well cared for, one owner, 25k mile car with new N rated Michelins (albeit N1 on the rear and N0 on the front) and a full service history at OPC/Specialist. All Cazoo did was put a battery on it and possibly new tyres, although the previous owner may have done that.
I went in eyes wide, I spent £2k on paint correction and ceramic coat, new tyres and a Porsche second service to satisfy the warranty requirements.
I never said that Cazoo should pay for the battery, I have had good service from Cazoo, it was only suggested on here that Cazoo should pay for the battery.
So what is so wrong with buying from Cazoo under these circumstances? My previous experience with the OPC was so bad I said I would never go back, the car came home with more issues than it went in for each time, I even had to have it recovered due to a major fuel leak following the OPC EGR replacement. So the OPC service is not the holy grail, just a means to keep a warranty in my eyes.

So, please stop the grilling me, I love the car and I have no regrets.

Thanks

Yeah, it’s still showing my beautiful SD.

I tried and was having trouble with the size. Maybe it’s my age (big 50 in two weeks). I’ll try again.

I know what you mean about the re-sizing of photos for the avatar. A bit of a pain, as I recall. 🤔

You’re a youngster! My age will match the number of Heinz varieties in three months! 🤪

Apologies if a come across as “ grilling “.
Just shooting the breeze with the OPC vs none OPC used SD routes .
Mostly for the benefit of folks sat on the fence wondering which way to leap .

Apart from the batt once that’s done they might ( if they had 1/2 a business brain ) sucker you in to a warranty then do you at the next routine service on consumables , suspension bushes and the like .Ready to front up the row you present re little milage done since it’s 111 pointer .

As a service manager on a bonus scheme any loaf is better that no loaf at all .They know they have hooked you when you enrol with the warranty which is a insurance product VW sell .
This is different from the 2 yr OPC warranty tossed in on there for court gear .The Porsche approved warranty is the same as a new car up to cars 15 yrs as long as they qualify.

I would have thought metal coming into the workshop that’s temporarily been outside the OPC network ( you say it’s been to redline for service ) is future cannon fodder .

Where as a car totally known to them from day dot recycled, sorry re sold by them never been out of the clutches of a OPC would be more difficult to drum up revenue .

Interesting to see during the next 12/18 months how much of the cazoo saving is gobbled up and how much grief you are gonna get every time it enters OPC workshop bay .

I hope my hunch is wrong .
