ordered a new BMW x1for my wife and discovered that it has quote
"360-degree bird’s-eye view can help with DIY parking. And the cameras can also be accessed remotely to check on the X1.
The cameras also can record video when the vehicle is parked. A crash function records up to 60 seconds of footage, triggered by a collision. On better days, the cameras can record 60-second high-definition videos, say, to capture scenery."
Why cant Porsche offer this on surround view.

because their technology isn't as recent and the model is on "run out" maybe?

Porsche should 100% offer (an option) to permit the 360° cameras to record operational and parked impact A/V for accident and parking lot damage.

I think originally it was due to privacy laws in Germany - dashcams are considered surveillance cameras by law and have much tighter regulation which makes it all but impossible to run one in your car and adhere to all the rules.

So, they just didn't bother to write the software and install the hardware for other parts of the world where dashcams are under less scrutiny.

Good on BMW for those features, though.

I wonder what Tesla do in Germany then because those cars pretty much record everything in every direction.

I remember reading they keep getting sued and the Gov is trying to get them to change how it works!
