Headlamp range regulation defective. Service required

Went to start the Macan up on Sunday as haven't used it for over a month, and have a 400 mile round trip coming up.

It had sat under a cover in the garage through that time. Upon starting it (cover off) it gave me the above message, as well as:

- Adaptive headlight control defective. Service required

- Driving light control defective. Service guess what

- Pedestrian warning not available. Service necessary

Thought it may be a glitch, so retried today and same again.

Did some online research and seems like it's a common thing. Cure is clean the headlights, although mine are very clean as I previously put it to bed after a wash

Other potential causes according to the internet are how damp the air is. It was bone dry on Sunday the first time I tried, and now it's very humid

Has anyone experienced this? And if so do you mind letting me know how you fixed it (without necessarily having a service!). Thanks everyone

PS tried searching on here for relevant threads but no joy, however posting this may bring up similar previous discussions

I've had similar, but not the same, messages when the battery was low. Charge it up first then check? Before you take it to the dealer :D

Great. Many thanks. I was hoping it would be something like that. Will take it for a drive tomorrow and see if they disappear

I had the Pedestrian warning after not using mine for 3 weeks awaiting some PPF. Went away immediately after driving a short distance and hasn't returned.

Thanks. Also very reassuring as no time to get it into dealer before I go

I've always used mine 6 days out of 7, frequently more, and never had such issues. ;)

Just back from a drive which seemed to sort the issue. Thanks everyone

Now let that be a lesson to you, in future 200 miles a week or its cold showers and ships biscuits only!
