Vibration noise

Booked in for a look on Monday. Fuel hose getting done. Said they had no knowledge of a rear wiper scrub fault and they couldnt think of anything causing vibration rumble... thank goodness for macanowners club!

Get your dealer to search their internal database and they will find a Service Note which describes the problem and corresponding fix for the rear wiper rubbing issue. It's not out as a recall as it's not affecting every car but my SD (first registered March 2015) which I have just bought had this problem and is now fixed.

I have a 2020 macan s. it vibrates at 2000 to 2400 rpm, light load, light acceleration, 6th gear, 3000k on car, did it out of the show room. dealer working on it, any thoughts? also slight vibration on all shifts below 2000 rpm

Try to isolate the problem, ie. before transmission box or after, eg. is it more pronounced at ~2000 rpm in 6th gear, or in all gears?
If in all gears then it would be more probably something attached to the engine, eg. exhaust shield.
If only in 6th gear, what vehicle speed? Could be a anything after the transmission box, eg. rear exhaust mounting fitted very tight or balancing weight that fell off a propeller shaft(?)

Also, you mention that you can feel it coming through the pedal, can you feel any vibration on the floor pan?
If only the pedal then probably something in the front, if the floor pan than probably something on the back of the vehicle, eg. rear exhaust mounting bracket.

Lots of moving parts and lots of permutations, one has to isolate it through a process of elimination.

thanks for reply. the car seems to vibrate slightly when shifting all gears , normal shifting, light load, you can feel it momentarily on the steering wheel. ( note i drove a new 2019 and did the same thing, though to a lesser extent ) it does vibrate quite a bit more in all gears at about 2200 rpm, but it is short duration, when it down shifts from 7 to 6 then it is very noticeable. I think because in 6th it has to work a bit more and so it is stronger and last longer, although if u go up a 10 deg incline then it continues to vibrate and make a very noticeable audible noise that others in the car say wow what is that. I think loose parts would be more audible than physical, also the vibration seems to be lower frequency. I am thinking it might be the bands/clutches due to mis information from computer managing the transmission valves. I think changing the tranny oil is a cheap trial, dealer and i going for drive on wed, My 2015 macan did not do this ( it had many other problems ) I will see if i feel any thing in the floor pan

Sounds like something in the engine bay or transmission tunnel. The dealer will have to diagnose properly for you.
During my days in the industry, some car makers used to fit something called vibration dampers, designed to reduce NVH (noise, vibration, harshness). I wonder if VAG still uses such devices, as it is hard to see under the plastic engine cover. Perhaps a damper is missing?

Hi Stanley

Did you get anywhere with this? I have the exact same problem and it appears all the new S’s do.. I was told it is a characteristic of this model and nothing is wrong or can be done..

Please let me know, it is the biggest windup...

Thanks

Howard

hello howard,
I took it in. i drove another new one, which doesn't make the same vibration. I went out for a 2 hr drive with the mechanic who agreed he heard and felt what i did. He also said he noticed the vibration in other macans and wonder why i was the first to complain. it goes in this fri and they will look and touch and tell me what they find. my 2015 macan had leaky sunroofs, wheel bearing failure, rear side suspension replacement, catylitic converter failure, i bought another one thinking the first was a lemon and it couldn't possibly happen again. vibration is caused by imbalance, misalignment, power transmission, and made worse with the natural frequency of the components being achieved, so something is causing it and it gets worse at 2200 rpm, it is independent of vehicle speed, will keep u posted, stan van bc
