Plus from preparefor australia website

Luxury vehicle: You wish to bring in a car valued at $70,000 by Australian Customs.

Duty = 10% of 70,000 = $7,000

GST is calculated on $77,000 (value + duty) = $7,700

Total value of car subject to LCT = $70,000 (value) + $7,000 (Duty) + $7,700 (GST) = $84,700

Luxury Car Tax payable on: $84,700 (Total value) - $57,466 (Allowance) = $27,234.

Luxury Car Tax is 33% of $27,234 = $8,987.

So, your total charges are: $7,000 (Duty) + $7,700 (GST) + $8,987 (LCT) = $23,687.

Summary for Luxury Vehicle Import Fees:

Value = $70,000
Duty = $7,000
GST=$7,7000
LCT = $8,987
Total Cost to Import = $23,687

Comparison spreadsheet from a shipping company

http://www.carshipping.co.uk/AusCostCal ... Import.xls

Then there is the cost for preparing the car prior to shipping plus compliance alterations in Oz and to regas the Air Con.

Me I would sell and buy a second hand big Mitsi 4x4 if I was going to Oz to be near our family there, they are into 4x4 and UTEs
Useful spreadsheet - thanks

Very good. :lol: It'll look the right way up when we get there. Based on some of the pics I've seen on the forum in the last 2 years (it's been that long!) I'd say a few Aussie models made there way here.

On topic - Looks like all we'll we have to do is change the drivers side exterior mirror, although it might be wise for future resale to change the analogue speedometer too.
