My car will be recoverd soon. Over the last couple of weeks I have started to notice something I can only describe as a significant mechanical engagement of the drivetrain. A shunt which you don't only feel with a small lunge forward, but feel inside the cabin as if something is being hit with a hammer. Engine and drivetrain are on temp. It happens at all speeds when you lift and re-engage the throttle. The coast function is off. The lunge is quite disconcerning when you roll into a corner and carefully reapply the throttle only to get pushed forward at more speed than you had anticipated. I have only ever noticed it in comfort mode.
Now the delights of Enterprise rentals and the ignominy of the Porsche recovery truck... As long as I have the car back before my road trip at the end of the month.....

Sorry to hear this, Nosmo. Hope they fix it in time for your road trip, or at least offer a decent replacement in the meantime if it can't be sorted out speedily.

Thanks guys. I've not read that the transfer box issues have translated into the clunking sound / feeling I'm describing. It is in with the OPC to be checked out. I really hope they take it out for a good drive to get to experience what I'm describing. Someone mentioned the engine mount or something in the drive train not being tight enough. I'm not mechanically savvy so wouldn't have the first idea what's what.

Too late Phil. They have it in their compound and I am awaiting a 5 series Beamer estate... I will have to trust them to find the fault. If not, I will go back and take one of the technicians out at a later date.

No surprises . They haven't been able to replicate the fault. They put over 100 miles on the clock so hats off to them for trying. They have changed the PCM software with a recall update (?). I will be back when it happens again.
