No stop/start, no coasting

After 15k miles in my Macan 2.0, I noticed that the stop/start function no longer ever cuts in. Although I do mainly shortish trips (sub 10 miles), this issue persists even when the car is fully warmed up.

The button to suppress auto stop/start is not selected, and Sport mode is off.

Also, the car now never seems to go into coast mode. I guess the two issues are linked. Fuel consumption seems around 10% worse as a result.

I wonder if the battery just needs a good long run? Any thoughts appreciated.

If auto stop/start isn't switched off, it may be a battery voltage issue - probably more common in winter. I've had that with other cars when the stop/start function ceased to work.

As for coasting, as I understand it the function is disabled by switching off the auto stop/start, or if you're using cruise control. Otherwise it ought to coast if you feather the accelerator gently.

Battery would be high on my list of possibilities.
Assume no warning symbols on the multifunctional display?

Some info below which may help.

Exceptions for the Auto Start Stop function

The Auto Start Stop function is not available in the following situations, e.g:

When SPORT/SPORT PLUS mode is active
PSM off or PSM in SPORT mode.
In Manoeuvring mode.
When air conditioning “Maximum cooling output” is active
When the “Windscreen defrost” function is active.
At high altitudes
While adjusting the chassis level
When off-road mode is on
When an attached trailer is detected (bicycle carrier connector or trailer connector plugged in)
The Auto Start Stop function must be deactivated manually if a trailer hitch from another manufacturer is installed on the vehicle.
The Auto Start Stop function is available with limited functionality in the following situations, e.g.:

When the air conditioning or passenger compartment heating is operated at a high setting
If the battery charging condition is low
On upward or downward slopes
During internal vehicle test procedures, e.g. automatic engine checks
At a very low or very high outside or battery temperature
In stop & go traffic with repeated short stopping phases (depending on country)

The other time mine stops working is when the DPF filter is needing regenerating. I think this also stops it coasting and going into stop/start. Is your car an SD?

I expect that it is because you do lots of short journeys and during the winter we use a lot of the electrics for defrosting, heating, lighting etc

Expect you just need a good long run to fully charge the battery

Out of interest, what sort of mpg were you getting compared to now

Many thanks for the responses.

To answer some of the queries, the car is a 2 litre petrol - so not DPF related. Cruise is generally off. I can’t get either function to work even with most electricals switched off (apart from air con which I leave on auto permanently).

But I have used seat and wheel heating quite a bit recently, on lots of short runs. So I think I’ll give the car a good run and see if the battery perks up and things start working again!

If you have a charger you could put it on charge over night and see if that fixes it.

You really needed an excuse? What voltage was the car battery status showing?

I don't think your problem is unusual. I too drive a lot of short distances and have found that the auto stop / start does not always function. I have always presumed that it is to protect the battery. Whilst on a longer drive the auto stop /start will kick in and likewise after a long drive; leading me to believe it is battery related.
