Light on at 8500 miles. I reckon a trip to Halfords for 10 or 20 litres and a funnel. Anything to look out for?

Hi Tom, I did mine myself over Xmas. I bought 2 x 10l containers and each came with a filler tube attachment. I then also bought a funnel for good measure and simply inserted the filler tube into the funnel.

Hardest part was pouring the container and holding the funnel at the same time as one hand for the 10l container was quite heavy.

If you had someone to hold the funnel, may be the best solution to avoid any spills. Good luck.

A tube on its own would be easier come to think of it. Something that screws onto the tub and pushes down the filler hole with enough leeway for air.

But read the comments underneath as well, there are some warnings and pitfalls apparently.

Did think about doing mine myself. but my calculation was I probably needed more than 1 x 10l so Adblue cost (at Halfords anyway) probably £20-25, leaving at least some for next time. OPC standard price was £42 while I waited and included a wash and v. quick valet. So I chose the lazy way...

I do our Q5 with a funnel with a mesh filter and an old 2L pop bottle, or used to before the software 'update', following which Audi are going to refill it for free. I think you need to put at least 6L in to reset the light (on Audi anyway)?

10L from a Shell garage is about £10-11?

Just remember to swill the car down with fresh water if you spill any AdBlue as it leaves crystals everywhere once dry.

Had mine refilled at OpC - £90! May seek the DIY route next time after researching it as it’s a 2hr round trip. They just also discovered at the 10k Oil change that the AdBlue pipe leaking, hence the top up?

£19.99 for Halfords to put it in (up to 10l) don't even get your hands dirty.

The first price I got from Porsche was £100 but a lot of places are doing top up now at a reasonable price.

Easy for DIY too.
