Adblue Self Fill - Any Tips?
I am expecting my light to come on soon. Depends whether I fancy a trip to the OPC (half an hour each way) or spend the time doing it on my drive. And there is always the temptation of looking round a Porsche garage to factor in... could cost a lot more than £42!
Mine was topped up F-O-C by my OPC , not sure how old your SD is but I would ask first

Mine is less than a year old but I bought it privately 3 months ago. I doubt I would get any FOC.

I did! Went into nearest OPC (Cambridge) to sort out registration and they did a top up of "all fluids" including coffee whilst we did.

If the warning light has come on you'll need more than one 10L bottle. I did the first top up of my Macan (@ 13k) using AdBlu from Halfords and it took 20L. The second time I had it done by the OPC at the same time as the two year service (no warning light, just had it done then for convenience).
If you're doing it yourself, watch out for blowback when you've put around 8L in. Just drive the car around the block (literally, two to three hundred yards) and then carry on.

Dead easy. Pour from the 20l container into a 1-litre measuring jug, then into a funnel at the filler neck. Takes a bit of time, but no bother.

From what I can gather 20l retails about £20 and 10l for £15. I think the capacity of the car is about 23l so I just need to stumble over 20l of Adblue and a funnel on my travels.

I picked up 20l at Tesco for £22. It was downhill from there.
Armed with a 5 litre petrol can, nozzle and funnel I set about a bit of DIY.
There seemed to be more escaping than getting in so I gave up. The filler pipe seems to be so narrow the air cannot get out.
Perhaps a narrow tube to get it well down the neck is the answer.
900 miles to find a solution.

You could buy a 1.9L bottle with the nozzle that fits in to the hole. Empty that into the tank then cut a hole in the bottom of it and use as a funnel. That is what I will do if I don’t go to the OPC to fill upTom 2000 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 6:04 pm I picked up 20l at Tesco for £22. It was downhill from there.
