I always thought that windscreen replacements were part of a comprehensive insurance cover against £100 or so excess. I had mine replaced by Autoglass and Aviva covered it.

Well I had three scenarios:
1. Claimed on Admiral... All work done by Autoglass, £75 first loss plus £94 repair bill
2. Wanted OPC to do work Admiral agreed to this but then said they'd contribute just £50
3. NFU happy for OPC to do the replacement, I would have to pay and then they'd reimburse me.

I had to pay and get reimbursed to have the OPC do it less £70 excess. If I had had national windscreens do it NFU would have paid direct minus £50 excess. So it was paid for by insurance, just not directly

Update

Today porsche assist picked up car late obviously to take it to reading
Reading ordered my windscreen on thursday after i paid a deposit and they hope to have the part soon quoting 3 to 5 day
Why does porsche uk not keep a windscreen in stock
I remember a couple of years ago i had an audi rs4 and hit a large stone in the road and burst two tyres limped it to local tyre store they informed me that the front wheel had been damaged but they could get it welded
Didnt really fancy that as i was takeing wife and kids on holiday the next day
Phoned local audi centre there was no wheel in stock in the uk but they had air freighted
to my dealer the following morning thats service
Why are porsche so bad 😫

Since I'm on my third screen since Dec... So maybe they go through them too quickly to maintain stock levels.

So nearly two weeks later i finally get my gts back with a bill of £2100 that ive now got to submit to my insurers
But as an added bonus the car has come back with damage to the front bumper that was done unloading the vehicle
Its a macan not a gt3 and also absolutley filthy
Why are porsche aftersales so bad when i chased up for progress obviously by emsil because you very rarely get the phone answered
The reply was a blunt we will contact you when it is ready
And this was reading the supposed flagship dealership

Sorry to hear your woes. All I can say is that I got much better service from Tewkesbury at half the price.
