£520 for the first two years is only £260 a year, my previous non Porsche motors cost more than that per year and I have been driving a Porsche for 30 months now.

Yes it is a rip off but so are all other manufacturers costs.

You can always take it to a specialist Porsche Independent, you do not have to use the OPC.

BTW, being hygroscopic is a physical property of the brake fluid, it is what it is a hydraulic fluid. Water in brake fluid will boil if the brakes are applied hard and then the brakes loose their effectiveness. If you are involved in an accident then it is found that you have not complied with the manufacturers recommendations what do you think the outcome will be?

There is no such thing as a free lunch when it comes to to driving a top quality marque.

Brake fluid will absorb water overtime irrespective of usage. The price you have been given is from the dealer fixed price menu, some charge more. This is a edited post I did previously on keeping a car for four years.

You don't need air con service unless you want it. Your warranty will be expired at end year 3, take further cover if you want the peace of mind.

Minor Service. £430
Major Service. £560
B/F Change.x2 £190
MOT x 1 App £30/£50

Total cost is equal to just over 84 pence per day✔️ 🤔

If you want to maintain your warranty and some goodwill stick with Porsche, if not go elsewhere, you can get a brake fluid change at Halfords or ATS for £37 and you can buy a tester to check yourself for around £20. Col and Steves comments are spot on, you've bought an expensive vehicle, I wouldn't buy a used Porsche without full dealer service history. if you can afford it suck it up, enjoy the free loaner, coffee, biscuits read their papers, use their WIFI and chat up the receptionists 😉😋😍

Interesting comments on the point of people asking to use their own oil at the OPC. When I asked about using my own oil at the OPC for my 997T I was told “sorry sir but we can only use our own due to warranty purposes...”. I was then told that the reason for this is that some of the Mobil 1 that is available on the market is potentially fake and that they need to ensure the quality of the oil for the warranty to remain valid....

As it’s too difficult to take it to another OPC and I don’t have a decent indie close by I just rolled over and accepted it.....

Sounds like official Porsche "bollocks" to me

A proportion of the oil margin (not all of it I confess) is eaten up by the disposal cost of the waste oil / filter. Commercial enterprises (not just motor dealerships) have to fully account for all waste and pay a significant amount for disposals certificates etc.

Not sure the relevance of this. I'm saving £100 by supplying my own oil and they still need to dispose of the old oil and filter. It's just simple Porsche greed in a hidden way most people don't know.

The relevance is that if you are supplying your own oil, why should you expect them to pay for disposing of your displaced oil and parts?
Not intended to start a debate - just trying to give a bigger picture overview (and the “greed” re oil supply is not limited to Porsche dealerships......😉)

While we all think that service costs are high and that sometimes dealers seem to be charging us more for things we think should be cheaper the fact is you like me are paying for the plush showroom, the free tea/coffee/soft drinks, the free loan cars (often better than the ones we bought), the well trained technicians and if you've built a good relationship, the recognition by the staff that greet you by name when you walk in sometimes just to have a chat and a coffee.

If you think you're getting ripped off with Porsche service costs I'm surprised you haven't choked in your free tea/coffee (your choice of beverage) that Porsche profit margins on their cars are second only to Ferrari and you probably paid 20% or more than you would've done if you'd bought another brand. You paid the admission price when you bought the car, now you have to pay the service costs to keep her sweet so that she'll keep on giving you the performance you've come to expect and enjoy. That is, as they say, life. And sometimes you just have to deal with it.

hey David,

exact same time as us, i have family in the trade, parts, oil, filters, etc. they say go with the flow, needs doing and it’s a porsche.

mind you we have 12k in 2years, so slightly better value. She is going in next Wednesday

Compare to other german cars, porsche is good value when you take into consideration the leap in quality.

still loving our GTS!!

P.S. decided to keep my S3 for a bit longer - saving for a 992 (the other half concurs) and keep the Macan for a long time.

Just 84p a Day 🙄 If you can afford and are prepared to shell out on a Porsche you should be able to accept the servicing. Taking your own oil into the Dealers! C'mon, why not take in your own teabag and ask for a refund cos you didn't drink their coffee. Often see the term "Porsche Greed" here, well that's just business and you've bought into it, if you don't like it buy a KIA.
Your opening of this thread was revealing you certainly are a "tight old sod" You can't take it with you 😇

JUST JESTING 😉 But can't wait to see the thread on replacement discs and pad costs 🤕😣
