On my SQ5.....OK different car but remarkably similar in so many ways...the problem was eventually traced to the connection between the roof drain hole and the drain pipe. It didn’t make sense to me as the drain pipe was clear and you would think water would obey the laws of gravity and drain downwards, but somehow a fair bit of water came out at the connection point!

My Macan doesn’t have a sunroof...once bitten twice shy!!

Hi Danwiththemacanman
I have a 65 plate Macan ‘S’ with a similar water ingress problem. At first I noticed dampness at the top of the driver’s side ‘A’ pillar and along windscreen headlining to the center, where number of water droplets appeared. I also noticed droplets of water dripping from under dash above and on to cowl side panel and running down same on to the carpet, found carpet soaked full length on right and to middle of driver’s floor (Interestingly I first noticed JUST a dampness at the driver-side ‘A’ pillar at our old home a number of months ago, which had a more or less LEVEL drive, it has really only become a real problem since parking on the SLOPPING drive that comes with our new home we moved in to 3 weeks ago) I also checked the rear passenger floor at rear of driver, this was also soaked at rear section! It get’s worse, the passenger side front and rear are same!! All four drain holes (2 front 2 back) are clear. I read that it could be poor a connection at the front drain tubes (possibly, but rarely rear too), pan roof blind cassette holding water*, or the pan roof it’s self being misaligned? Personally in my vehicle’s case I believe it is a poor connection at the front drain tubes allowing water to leak by and when parked on a slop it allows much more water to build up at that point and pan roof cassette * overwhelming the drain tube and aggravating the water ingress problem. I would love to investigate, the big problem is removing the sun visor to get to the area, they talk of pinching 2 retaining clips together (2 front of sun visor bracket 2 rear) how the hell you do this goodness only knows, I’ll keep trying though, in the meanwhile I would be interested to know if you got your water ingress problem sorted and if so, what was found? Regards

Hi Plummie2

I took mine to a Porsche specialist who said they needed to raise one side of the glass??? Fingers crossed with the recent snow and rain has held off? I’m not convinced it’s sorted as the floor is not wet but feels a little damp still, however it may be down to the carpets and the car not completely drying out? I spoke to Porsche main dealership Brooklands, they suggested that they would need to completely remove the roof and re seal it?! Which would of set me back a few ££ so I’m holding off to see if this has worked. I feel it needs a new seal around the glass as it must be letting more than it should seep through, and then it can’t drain quick enough causing it to fill in the wind deflector part and over sill into the car?? Poor design if you ask me and obviously a common problem if you have a pan roof?! Porsche said there is no re call for this and I strongly suggested there should be!!

Same issue as described by Plummie2 above. Mine is 66 plate GTS.
Fixed by OPC - not under warranty so ££ but negotiable as Porsche are apparently aware of this design flaw.

Hi. Had same problem. Started just over a week ago after cold weather followed by rain. Water in footwell on passenger side. Read what other people had done I.e. drain problems but this was not the case as I could put water where drain is but it did not leak into car. The problem was that if I put water in the channel next to the main one it leaks into car. Fix was simple I put a small amount of silicon on the joint and the leak has now gone. I can put photo of fix if required. Make sure you do it the full length of joint couple of inch. I believe that water had got between joint and on freezing had broken the water tight seal.
Hope this helps.

If you open sunroof and from inside vehicle at front you will see hole for drain. If you put water down it you will check if this is problem. Mine wasn't water comes out behind front wheel now pour water down inner channel and and mine then so water on passenger foot well see photo.
I then dried area out with hair drier don't get it too hot. I then with a small screwdriver put clear silicone along the joint as shown and next day tried again with water and all ok.
