Having advised a couple of others recently to carry out the above as an attempt to “cure” poor drivetrain / hesitations etc, I thought I would take my own advice and carry out said PDK factory reset.

To set the scene, my GTS is just over 2 yrs old (Sept 2016) and has just ticked over 21000 miles. A good half of these miles have been motorway miles at motorway speeds (😊.) The balance of the mileage has been mainly trundling around locally, a bit of A road stuff at A road speeds (ie, the slowest car in front dictates the speed if the queue!)
I’m a keen overtaker, but the scope for driving “fast” in the UK is pretty limited and I would guestimate at a couple of times only per month where any moderately fast driving has occurred, and this in “sport” and often manual mode.

Over the last few months, possibly more, I’ve felt the need to drop a gear or two manually using the paddles as the car didn’t seen to do it quick enough for my liking. “Lethargic” is a word which has been used on here and that is a good description. A hard kick-down worked fine but a more gentle pressure on the throttle had little or no effect.

So, this morning, engine on, a/c off, wait 3 minutes etc etc.......and the car is transformed!

Progressive, clean changes at higher revs, gears being held longer, less pressure needed to change down, change-down occurring on the over-run up to junctions, rarely getting into 7th gear, dropping 2 or even 3 gears with only a moderate throttle pressure, snappy and exciting, almost as if there it is now in a “half-sport” mode rather than the previous lazy, lazy comfort mode. Back to how the car was initially designed by Porsche engineers.

In conclusion, it takes 7 minutes, can’t do any harm, and might transform your car.

(With my apologies if I am preaching to the converted😊)

If you took the time to make a thread it would've been good to include all the steps instead of just "Etc etc" :D

1. Turn on the engine, turn off A/C (and any other consumer like PCM, etc.) and let the engine run for 3 minutes.

2. Turn on A/C and wait another 3 minutes.

3. Turn off engine, remove the key, close the car and wait one minute.

4. Restart car and PDK is now reset to factory default.

..and from Semerka...

I nearly did it today, just, well because. Then thought it may produce a result I didn't like, so bottled it?

Can’t be any “worse” and only sets you back to factory day 1......

In everyday driving, you are always just trickling along following the slowest car in front and that becomes the fuzzy logic’s definition of your “normal” driving. Reset it and you’re back to a much snappier / instant g/box reaction. (Despite my recommendations I was a little sceptical, but having done it once I will probably now programme this for a 6 monthly thing to do)

There's actually a step missing:

5. Go out for a drive and convince yourself that it's made a difference! ;)

👍😂😂

(although there is no need to convince yourself; I’m as sceptical as they come and I felt an genuine improvement from the first 100 yards.)

I know Paul - the reset procedure is firmly on my list of 'things to do' :D
