Anyone got a quote for a Mk2 hatch & full width light bar yet?
I’d rather like to update my Mk1 to the new look
I’m sure it would be a quick swop across with some spanners..... :o

Hmm... I am getting Macan gen 2, but actually I prefer the rear end of gen 1 [emoji38]

For me the gen 1 rear lights are a modern take on a classical 928 design in a modern 3D form.

If the cars were out of warranty I would consider a clean swap, but I don’t want to mess with a new car... boot-lid alignment, body panels are unpainted under the hinges, so have to be protected, and of course the warranty.

Current: 911 Carrera T - PPM9RU51
On order: 911 Targa 4S - PPDV8NY4

+1 - I am not that enamoured with the new rear lid, it hasn't grown on me, if it ever will. The rear lights on gen 1 was what drew me in, back in 2013. Literally an ad in the Sunday times showing the rear lights and I was sold.
Deposit paid 14/12/13 - Picked up on 14/03/15.PF9FZLV2
GTS: PHVVUV96 Picked up on 16/06/16
Cayman GTS on order - due for delivery Nov '18

it's been a year so wonder if anyone can answer this yet?
I tried a call to the OPC (no help at all), 911 designs and Dr Google all to no avail.
Can we just swop out the Mk2 boots with the Mk1 as unlike the above comments, I really like the huge solid line.
thx

I’d like to keep my Mk 1 rear end but swap / bin my halogens for the standard leds of the current model. I prefer the earlier rear end too, but would like to see more at night. The indicators light up more than the headlights!

I hate the new Kia rear lights. The original Macan lights are one of the most nicely styled parts of the car.
They are unmistakably Porsche, slightly reminiscent of 928/911 shapes.

I guess somebody will do this at some point, but it’ll be a bigger job than it first looks......

Strip loads of interior trim.
Remove wiper motor, wiper and all water tubes.
Remove wiring and old rear lights.
Any damping or sound deadening removal.
Remove spoiler.
Remove back window.
Remove all rubber seals and strips and stops.
Remove lift mech and rams.

Buy new tailgate panel.
Buy new rear lights (on rear wings) x 2
Buy big wide light strip.
Buy P O R S C H E lettering in your preferred finish.
Buy any clips and fixings and sundries that are less than perfect after removal.

Body shop paint the tailgate panel and refit all the above.
Add new wiring via roof, down into tailgate for centre lighting.
Code in the .2 light function.
Now re-assemble and fit glass.

I’m not sure this is worthwhile due to cost of parts, time and complication.
Anyone care to take a guess?

It’ll have to be done outside the OPC network, as they don’t do modifications.
As a modification, both physical and electrical, you’ll not be able to extend the warranty, after the initial 3 years expires.
The car might also look like it had had some sort of accident and been repaired with the wrong parts!

As the car is modified and no longer matches the build sheet, it will not be welcome as an OPC trade in and might be viewed with suspicion by second hand buyers.
