Although no issues (touch wood) at this time, I noticed this reference to 'transfer box wear integrator' in the maintenance schedule and wondered if a) is there any relationship between this and the failures and b) if anyone who has had their car serviced recently had seen the diagnostics?

Just to cut through the annecdotal potential costs of a replacement transfer box

2.32 hours Labour, plus £1000 of parts is what warranty will pay (all plus VAT for retail customers and the dealership might try and charge a bit of diagnostic time)

But I seem to remember that the warranty company pay a lot less than a non warranty customer as they get the parts at a significant discount.

Yes, left hand coloumn is full list price, I’ve not shown the discounted warranty price (approx 35% discount overall) for the parts nor the actual labour rate for warranty. (Warranty Company in this instance is Porsche UK)

As promised, here is my update.
The car went in to Portsmouth Porsche to have a new key programmed in (my wife lost hers  )
It was also booked in to have the transfer box checked. They assure me it is Ackerman effect and that there is no fault. I do believe them as it would be a nice little earner if it needed a new box.
Whilst there they did a software update which took about an hour.

Good news then. Did they ask your permission to update software?

That's about 2/3 the price of the job on a Mazda CX-7; unless I can get a dodgy fix and sell it on!

Hi Tom, yes they did. I had an extra hour to kill so they gave me a lift to Port Solent where I had some lunch and then walked back.
I haven't noticed any difference.
