AFAIK they're about the same price. My niece's husband has his own tyre fitting business, and I do his tax returns for free, so I'm hoping they'll be at a large discount!

I think there is general agreement on most Porsche related fora that Michelins are the better bet and will certainly be looking at them when it's time to replace the tyres on the 911 which I suspect won't be too long, sadly.

How are your tyres holding up, WingCo? You seem to be about the only other 911 owner that does similar miles to me!

Just checked on Black Circles.

Rear summer tyres on my 911 Carrera T are 305/30 R20.

Checked for N0 rated tyres.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S = £255.08
Pirelli P Zero = £269.68

Fully fitted prices are £18 extra per tyre.

Possibly a discount if more than one tyre bought.

Tyres on my Carrera T were ok when Tewkesbury took them off to fit the winters.

Can't remember exactly the tread depth, but will certainly look to consider Michelins when the time comes, although possibly best to stick to the same brand on both axles, if rears need replacing before fronts?

You are right, of course, best not to mix tyres - it's why I never ended up with Michelins on the Cayman (too mean to change all 4 when 2 had another 7-8k miles left in them). I'm wondering if tyre wear will be more even on the 911 given it is 4WD even if it is rear biased. If there were only a couple of thousand miles left in the fronts I'd do all 4 at the same time.

^^^ I agree. To change all four at the same time, I may let the rears go a little below 3mm but not as low as 1.6mm, then maybe look to fit four Michelin summer tyres...

Both my cars have worn all four tyres at the same rate. Surprisingly. My last Boxster went through two sets of rears per front set. PITA needing 8 tyres immediately after Christmas!!!

Hoping you get a whacking great discount!! :D

P.S. On Black Circles, I noticed that N ratings now go as high as N7!

I went to a 'Porsche Pirelli' presentation recently and was very impressed. It was hosted by STS Tyre Pros, who have specially trained performance car fitters (whatever that means) at some locations. Pirelli sometimes offer good deals when buying multiple tyres, so for 8 at a time they should have a good offer for you.
