Now - I understand the majority of you prefer Gtechnic and that is what I would go for normally - but I asked the question about Williams Ceramic to see if anyone had come across it - and for me it would be free - so quite attractive if it's any good. As I have noted several times, it is NOT an OPC who are offering this so no option of any discount on my new car - which by the way is impossible with our Masters policy. Certainly not to the level of £700 value. I do pick up on the new high tech drying cloths - Meguires Water Magnets (where do I get them from?) etc. and will use them, because me, not being vegan and being of an advanced age believed the old leather was the way to go. By the way, when I checked what I was using, it is not a 'chammie' but a synthetic version - it's definitely my age!!
Look Chaps - I thank you all for your interest and advice. I am going to pursue, ask the questions of the detailer and then decide and have another look at those Ferraris. My mind is occupied by the thought of my brand new baby arriving, hopefully before a No-Deal Brexit, although I have been assured by Silverstone OPC that my order was early enough and will not be threatened by the possible 10% levy.
Cheerio for now.

Hi BenMacanBenMacan wrote: ↑Sat Jan 26, 2019 12:46 pm I am thinking of having my new Macan S treated to the Williams Racing Ceramic Coat. It looks pretty good quality and will protect inside as well as out. Has anyone any experience of this make? It should give good protection and is guaranteed for the period of my ownership. Would appreciate your views. Thanks.
I’ve had a Williams Racing Ceramic Coat put on my Macan SD. I bought the Macan in late December last year, and the car dealership was offering it as part of their pitch. I only paid £299 for it to be done, both inside and out. I’d never heard of ceramic coating before - neither Williams or GTechniq - and I must say, when I took delivery 2 days later, I wasn’t 100% sure whether my car had been coated at all! But a month on, its pretty obvious that it has been. The Macan is very easy to clean, and it does generally look pretty shiny all the time - although admittedly it doesn’t look quite the same as the detail and just-out-the-showroom quality that Jay One puts in with the GTechniq process.
This morning with all the frost about, I turned my engine on, pulled out my Meguiar’s Water Magnet Microfibre Drying Towel and started on the car. Then I pulled out another microfibre towel and dried again (I think it was the towel I got with the Williams Racing Pack, but I have a couple in the boot). Considering there was no detailer or spray used of any kind, for a 2015 car, I think it looks pretty good. What do you guys think?
And this is the cleaning pack that you receive with the Williams Ceramic Coating. The Bird Dropping Remover and the Car Wash & Wax are the only elements of the pack that I’ve used so far, but they seem to work pretty well:
You can even see the reflection of the clouds on the bonnet. Not bad considering it’s a dull day. And I was actually quite happy for the frost - as you can see, there’s some roadworks happening on my street at the moment, so the car is getting dusty very very quickly. The recent rain and frost cleaned it a bit and I done the rest... Sorted
As I said earlier, I knew nothing about Ceramic Coating before I bought my Macan. If I did, in truth I would probably opt for the GTechniq. £700 all in sounds pretty reasonable for the process involved, especially if I was buying brand new like yourself. Up to you of course. But Williams Racing Ceramic Coat seems to be pretty good too so far. We’ll see how it goes over the next 12-18mths. But so far, I’m pleased.

Hello FreddyB
Your black Macan looks really good and no wonder you are pleased. My new S will be Night Blue, so should look good also. I am still considering what to go for but the key is the prep. work and I'm not convinced yet if my potential detailer chaps are up to scratch. I've taken on board all the comments so far. You are the first one that has come forward with actual experience of Williams. Many thanks for your help.

I doubt the Williams product will be crap otherwise they wouldn't put their name to it. The real skill is in the preparation of the car as others have said (not that applying a ceramic coat should ever be taken lightly). If the detailer has references that check out then I think you will be fine. GTechniq is only one of many highly rated products in this relatively young market although it is probably the market leader currently. FWIW I had my 911 ceramic coated in Kenzo instead of the GTechniq product as it was considered more durable at the time. Interior, glass and wheels were all treated with GTechniq and I'm chuffed to bits with the results despite that not everyone has heard of Kenzo. The guy who did my car was very highly recommended around here and did an enormously professional job of the prep and sent me pictures every step of the way.
BTW my Macan was Night Blue and it is a beautiful colour with a lot of depth. It will look superb properly coated.
Good luck and send us pictures!
Cheers

Hi BenMacan
My ceramic coat was done by a car dealership called Quirks (www.quirkscarco.co.uk). They specialise in prestige used sports cars and 4x4 vehicles. They’re based in Wickford, Essex. Is that close to you? Have a look at their website, there’s some nice cars on there - make sure you check out their ‘Sold’ section if you fancy some automotive porn haha There’s some more information about the ceramic coat too. They’re a helpful bunch, so if you give them a call I’m sure they’ll give you more information if you need it. Lewis was my salesperson, and very good he was too. Hope this helps and keep us posted!

Yep, Ceramic Coating is like a tattoo, once it's on you're stuck with it so preparation is the key. I haven't tried it as I'm an old git and stick to a polish and carnauba wax after prepping the paint.
Dolomite Silver 'S' with red leather 14 way seats, Pano roof, Bose, Air suspension with pasm, Chrono pack, PDLS, Surround view, 911 turbo wheels, heated screen, spare wheel, ioniser,75 lt tank, black tail pipes, black roof rails.
Thanks for that FreddyB. Wickford is not close as I'm in North Oxon. Quirks sounds pretty similar to where I sold my Macan SD, T H Boler , near me. That is where I have the offer of a free Willaims Ceramic coat as part of the deal. Have a look at the www.THBoler.com site for your delectation!
