Letter from OPC today saying to bring my Sept 2016 SD in for a "foc one hour DME control software update in order to improve the engine control system in terms of nitrogen oxide emissions in certain circumstances".
Wonder if it'll noticeably effect future performance
Re-progamming DME Control Unit
I think Mark(yorkshire) had it done....reports dpf filter clogging regularly since!

Likewise...just rec'd letter from Porsche UK for my diesel.
I'm inclined to await definitive comments on here about any after effects following the "update".
No point asking the stealership for advice, they'll be wanting to do it and get the £££s from Porsche.
Currently, with my regular journeys from Warwickshire to Cheshire along the SPECS-ridden M6 , I'm getting ca. 44mpg so don't welcome any adverse effects on consumption - or dpf clogging !

S with an oil-burner engine and a few extras.
Just received my letter too!
On the US Forum there's a chap in Australia who's had the latest update done and hasn't detected anything adverse: https://www.macanforum.com/forum/porsch ... day-3.html

My previous May 2015 SD operated perfectly until the DME software was updated at first service in May 2017 and after that had to carry out dpf regens every 3 or 4 weeks. I would advise that if your SD is working fine then avoid any DME “upgrade”. My current SD also had to have dpf regens every 3 or 4 weeks but after complaining and having latest update in early December has been fine so far. Would still suggest “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it “.

Thanks Mark - part of me says leave the DME update alone and another part says hopefully it might end up fine like your one last December.mark-yorkshire wrote: ↑Wed Feb 20, 2019 9:27 pm My previous May 2015 SD operated perfectly until the DME software was updated at first service in May 2017 and after that had to carry out dpf regens every 3 or 4 weeks. Will give it a dose of thinking for a week or two, see if any other info comes to light and then decide

Had my letter yesterday and I'm in no rush to get it tampered with. I may insist at the first service (Oct) that they leave it be, unless they can guarantee there will be no adverse effects? Bad enough they've screwed us by dropping the SD from the line up, without potentially spoiling the drive!
