Rusty Discs

Just seen this Macan for sale at the newly opened Porsche Hull dealership. These brake discs look as though they have spent 6 months in the Humber

Those would have to be changed for the sale. A bargaining chip perhaps?

I think I would also be checking all over and under the car looking for corrosion. Maybe it was used to reverse down a slipway into the sea to launch a boat or jet ski.

It looks like it might have been washed, left to dry before being moved across the site for sale with only minimal braking. Discs surface rust very quickly unless dried soon after washing. I always try to take the car for a short run after washing to warm and dry the brakes.

^^^ They're a lot worse than that Rab. The discs are seriously grooved, suggesting the car has suffered a lack of care and/or used in a harsh environment.

I concede they do look grooved a bit from the photo Nick, but photos can be misleading. They don't seem to have much of an outside lip so maybe not as bad as they look.
When I ever look at a second hand car the first thing I check are the brakes, often overlooked by the selling dealer and a great indication of how well the car has been looked after by the previous owner. I have been amazed how often I see a car polished to it gleams and discs that are horribly rusted and grooved. Walk away immediately.

Only 550 miles in 12 months. Not sure where Hull Porsche are sourcing their used car stock. Official opening is 20th January.
