It looks very VAG to me. As it occurs to me these are the brake disc particles which rust when settling on the metal components. The only way to avoid it is to continuously keep the hubs clean and put wax on the hubs. I used to do this to my Audi until I got bored....

Got response from OPC and its heat build up in untreated areas. Guess none of the disc will be treated so it will always look crap. I don't remember this issue on any areas apart from disc surface on Audis, that sorts itself on first application of brake. Looks rubbish to be honest especially on open style wheels. 21's will hide it better I guess.

Hi Malk, no such problem with my discs so far, 5000+ miles since mid May.
I wash the wheels with a jet wash and bucket of soapy water once a week, no chemicals/wheel cleaner though.

Have you tried Iron-x, or Dragons Breath?

Should come off fairly easily with either of above.

All Porsche discs rust. Not all other makes have this problem! Just drive the car round the block after washing (with lots of braking) and the discs will dry without rusting. No need to do this when returning on a wet day as the discs will already be warm.< ="cosymantecnisbfw" co="cs" id="SILOBFWID" style="width: 0px; height: 0px; display: block;">

Yep, agreed Derek. If I forget/ don't have time to do it in my Boxster, the discs are like sandpaper the next time I drive it!

No issue on the discs - every car you use a wheel cleaner on they will corrode, its the hub area where it meets the wheel that looks awful. As you say teh disc cleans up very easily with first application of the pedal.

The OPC appears to have sprayed my hubs at Service without me asking.
