Not sure if this is relevant but the lights will come on and stay on if the wipers have started going. I think once they have wiped 4 times it triggers the lights.

re brakes, are we talking about stamping on the brakes every journey or just as and when the squealing appears?

btw, the rear wiper stalk operation is poor. the lever to activate it i mean. plus i have a juddering noisy rear wiper blade.
Brakes -just to cure the squealing and not every trip.

Rear wiper - replace with a Bosch blade to cure the judder and give a better clean. This is where I purchased mine: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173267546906

^^^ One thing to try first is to remove the rear wiper blade from the arm, rotate it 180 degrees and refit it to the arm. Worked for me.

Couldn't agree more about the rear wiper operating switch. My wife's VW Tiguan just requires you to push the stalk away from you to start the wiper with a push against a spring to operate the rear washer. Given Porsche is part of the VW group, I don't see why best practice couldn't be adopted group wide.

There is a thread somewhere on the forum that recommends turning the rear wiper blade around as cure for the juddering. In my case, I just changed the blade as it was smearing as well. Problem went away with the old blade.

thanks chaps for the all the input.

i will just order a new rear wiper.

can't sort brakes yet as wife keeps swearing at me every time i try it.

another slight gripe is that although the car has satnav there's no real time services (google) so we've ended up going back to using a mobile and google maps. does anyone know if

1) can the pcm be upgraded to get google services?
2) can the maps on the satnav be updated?

A number of us on here have successfully replaced the rear wiper blade with a Bosch one, available from Amazon etc and vastly cheaper than ordering a replacement from an OPC (£44!).

Not sure how Porsche justify £44!

I suppose there is the 30 seconds labour time to add in!
