Does anyone have any idea of what the conditions are for the Macan Diesel to go into "Coast Mode"

I can sometimes get it to coast when I lift off the pedal but often not, and I cant work out what the algorithm must be.
I've been the proud owner for over three years now and still haven't done 30,000 miles or worked out how to coast.

Still on the original all condition tires with with plenty of meat on them.
I must be driving too slow.

Here are the coasting preconditions shown in my manual (for a petrol but I guess it’s the same for diesel):

✔Driving in selector-lever position D
✔Auto Start Stop function/coasting mode is switched on.
Indicator light on button no is off.
✔SPORT, SPORT PLUS and off-road modes are switched off
✔PSM is active
✔Cruise control or adaptive cruise control is not active
✔Engine, transmission and battery are at operating temperature
✔Calm/economical driving style
✔No great uphill or downhill gradients
▸Slowly take your foot off the accelerator. The engine is disengaged and runs at idle speed. The vehicle rolls with no engine braking effect.

Surely it will coast if you pull 8th gear?

Yes it will tend to - but only if all the preconditions above are met.

I think Tom is referring to when you are in 7th and pull the right hand (‘shift up’) paddle. This can ‘encourage’ the car to go into coast mode.

I use coast quite a lot.

As per preconditions above and then and pull the right hand (‘shift up’) paddle.

Can be done in most gears I believe.

Sometimes happens automatically.

I think they key is to ease your foot slowly off the accelerator. If you move it off quickly then it stays in gear and doesn’t coast

The auto coast is a bit of a lottery. It seems to happen easily enough after steady acceleration and easing off but is hard to induce as that usually means more right foot action and computer says no. I think it can be pulled in 6th as well as 7th. Dunno about 5th.

Mine coasts just fine, I've never had an issue and it goes on and off on most longer drives?
