Replacement battery was same manufacturer (Varta) and spec as original. It didn't come from Porsche though as they wanted £360!
CharlesElliott wrote: Mon Jul 27, 2020 12:38 pm What voltage does the car report for the battery when a) not running and b) running? Maybe there is an alternator issue as well?
Ignition on/engine off voltage with new battery is showing 12.2 volts. Is charging at 14.2 volts when idling. I did suspect an alternator at one point but all seems visually in spec from the dash voltage indication.

I am still waiting on the Porsche ABS sensor so we shall see. Which amazingly is only £28. I will definitely report back one way or the other.

If the battery has recently been changed, the first thing I would check is the battery connections are tight. I had a similar thing on my Boxster when the dashboard light up like a Christmas tree. I checked the terminals next day, wiggled them tightened them a bit , never had another issue.

and the car's earth strap is worth a check for tightness also...

I checked all battery connections, the earth strap, the fusible links and fuses. I even went looking for mouse eaten wires (joys of the countryside).

I really really hope I haven't jinxed it, but: fitting the correct Porsche ABS sensor and all the warnings have now gone. Drives perfect again on a 20 mile trip. If it really was just the ABS sensor then that is one daft system. Obviously the majority of the systems (ABS, 4WD, suspension) need a wheel speed signal to operate correctly - hence the "adaptive driving permitted" statement. It would have been nice if they explained why obviously. But the fatal red gearbox failure warning really had me worried and seems rather unnecessary!

Car is now for sale - partly because of this episode but mainly because it gets little use. I love driving it, sitting in it and even looking at it but needs must.

Cheers

Hi, I have a 2015 Macan S and whilst driving yesterday 4 warning lights suddenly appeared but with no change to the performance of the car, I'd like to ask a couple of questions please,
Can I continue to drive the car and will the warning lights go away ?
Should I take the car to an AD or a specialist for them to clear the faults ?
Would a diagnostic checker be able to clear the warning lights ?
Do I need to replace the battery ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Rob,

If you read back through this thread you will see that the first point to check as it’s a 2015 car, if it’s not already been changed will be the battery condition and connections, after that could be an earth or sensor failure

Can someone help please! I now have major issues: All yellow warning lights have come up as follows on Macan S:

1. Parking break failure
2. Abs failure
3. ESP failure
4. Four Wheel Drive Failure
5. And also when ignition on....there’s a loud mechanical clicking sound under the grear box and the most bizarre the steering wheel judders left and right on its own while parked with ignition on. Never seen anything like this, seems the car is possessed .

There’s some serious malfunction with the sensors, fuses or computer system in this car.

Iam now getting concerned as I have spent a lot on this already.

Is there any advise please.

Really apprwacite your help.

Hi jaitch,

Had exactly the same issues as your video all warning lights have come on today, what was your fix in the end?

all of a sudden the whole dash has lit up with failure warning lights as follows:

Parking break failure
Abs failure
PSM failure
ESP won't turn off
And also in ignition there’s a loud mechanical licking sound under the grear box and the steering wheel judders left and right on its own while parked with ignition on.

There’s some serious malfunction with the sensors or computer system in this car.

Appreciate any advise on this.

I just had exactly the same with my SD. It is a failure of one of the brake plate mounted ABS sensors. If you need to identify which one you need to use a diagnostic device.
But.... the easiest thing is just replace all 4. Don't bother about non genuine ones - the Porsche ones are only about £35 each. It's about an hours work to replace all 4 yourself.

As Trailframe has said, likely cause is an ABS sensor failure. Had exactly the same issue with my wife's Tiguan and that was the cause.

Did you manage to get this issue resolved as I have the same problem (2016 Macan SD) minus the red warning? Second time I’ve had it in 5 months. First time a local Porsche specialist performed a reset and checked the car over but couldn’t find a fault.
