I bought a 718 Cayman a few weeks back and when I initially viewed it I went round the whole car inspecting every inch and as you would expect for a car with 100 miles on the clock, it was pristine.

When I collected the car and ambled round the car beaming with excitement and pride I then spotted a stone chip in the windscreen. It didn't take much to spot it and I'm 99% certain it was not there when I initially viewed. Anyhow they agreed to fix it but would have to bring the car back. What I was disappointed about though is that this went through the 111 point check and they passed this....to me it was unacceptable and I felt disappointed by the quality assurance. A few days later I got a call to say that in fact the chip had been repaired during the check! WTF! I insisted they do it again and eventually they agreed. After a bit of hassle dropping off etc i.e. no loan car, I went back to collect and it was still a terrible fix (not even smooth) and they simply said nothing more can be done and '...you should expect this for a second hand car'!

Many years ago I had a chip repair on a BMW which was right in my eye view and an MOT failure. A man in a van come along to my work and fixed it within 30 minutes and it was impossible to see. I would expect Porsche to have high standards and yet they have probably employed the most incompetent chip repairer known to man (just check out any DIY fix on YT and everyone did a better job).

Photo below but not too clear.....am I being unreasonable to expect Porsche to fix this properly or are they right and I'm just a fussy customer with higher expectations?

Just not acceptable. If they cannot have it repaired competently, then reject the car.

Hopefully that will bring them to their senses and a new windscreen be fitted.

You shouldn’t be able to “feel” the repair although sometimes can see it if you look closely and hard to tell but it looks like the drilled out area in the photo. Suggest you take it to someone like Auto Windscreens and ask their advice and cost if it can be invisibly fixed, if it’s a yes then back to OPC .

I have never seen one of these 111 point checks. Is it a tick box exercise that all is acceptable or does it describe any imperfections. To my mind the windscreen is not perfect nor acceptable and would expect it to be worthy of mention.

I wouldnt accept that at all. It doesnt even look like anyone has attempted to repair it and it should be almost invisible. Personally I would ask them to get a proper job done or replace the windscreen.

IMO, the attitude from the dealer is disgraceful. For only 100 mls, wow. I bet if 111 point checks and rectifications were paid for by the customer, they'd find allsorts wrong with it.
