Start/Stop Problems

Hi all - I’ve read the list of conditions that need to be met for the start/stop to function (essentially the perfect alignment of the solar system and a nod from the heavens it seems).

Mine is very erratic. For example, engine warmed up after a 100 mile motorway jaunt, battery charged and no A/C Max.

Stop in long queue of traffic. Engage ‘P’, engine cuts out. Then at a random period of time decides to restart with no input from the driver. It often does the same when I keep my foot on the brake - eg at lights or in traffic.

Is this normal?

I'm not a great fan of start/stop as I don't do much city driving but it does seem to "do it's own thing" at times

How old is the battery I imagine the senses voltage- wont start if it got too low. That would make it erratic

I too assign it to the diamond button but more to temporarily disable rather than all the time e.g. when parking, or when waiting to pull out of a busy junction.

When it is disabled, there is a double hit on fuel consumption - no stop/start and no coasting function. You lose out if it it disabled say on a motorway because of loss of coasting.
