Was it main brand fuel station, supermarket or independent?
Main brand with what turns out to be a very dodgy chain of responsibility, entirely enough for me to evaluate who owns what ongoing.

If they won’t accept liability your insurance should cover it, with no fault involved as they will pursue the garage (hopefully it won’t cone to that [emoji1695])
I am already going nuclear as tbh it’s an EPA issue and my car is secondary when the main brand responsibility led to a chain of third parties...

Understand your frustration....but the responsibility in law starts and stops with the entity selling the product....
