Hi all,

I might be being thick but since updating my Iphone XS Max to the latest version of IOS this week my apple carplay no longer works

On the home screen of my pcm is states no connection on the carplay widget

I've tried all the recommendations, turning iphone on and off, removing my Porsche from the carplay section of my iphone settings, etc etc

Two questions:

1. has anyone else encountered this problem?
2. if so, can you provide instructions on how to resolve the connection issue?

Regards and thanks in advance
Bryan

I assume you are trying to connect your phone wirelessly?

In the PCM device manager, is there a green ApplePlay symbol in the link column, for your phone?

If it’s white, try pressing it.

It’s been connected wirelessly since I had the car

When I go to device manager there is no CarPlay icon

Presumably you iPhone can ‘see’ your ‘PORSCHE’ in the CarPlay settings area in your phone?

I do know that if a Bluetooth connection is established between your phone and the PCM, then CarPlay will not be available.

If it helps, when my CarPlay is working, the Device Manager appears as attached. Note the CarPlay symbol being green in the ‘Link’ column (and the Bluetooth symbol is white meaning inactive).

Thanks for taking the time to take a photo

Interestingly I have no connection on the link section so will see if disconnecting Bluetooth works

well that was easy!

The link icon on my pcm was white and the Bluetooth icon green.

I simply clicked on the link icon to activate it, it turned green and Bluetooth white and hey presto CarPlay was activated.

It seems there has also been an update to the CarPlay interface now with the advent on iOS13. Will have a play with this later to see what's changed

My updated screen this morning on the 718 showed nav, BBC Sounds app and a box for finding parking and petrol on the map.

Aha! I wondered if that might be it. I got caught out and confused by that happening when I first got my Macan S with the wireless CarPlay.

It’s all to easy to enable Bluetooth (which then makes CarPlay disappear) e.g. by making phone calls via the PCM.

I’m now used to it so it’s not an issue, but it seems a poor piece of user interface design. It may be because Apple limit how third parties can interface with their software.
