I have a message on my dash telling me "service engine now. What does that mean?
I would like to know if this is a dealer or a indy type issue.

Have you looked at the messages under the menu info accessed by pressing right hand wheel . You can see messages and service info there.

Does this indicate time as well as mileage? My first service will be tripped by time and not mileage.

The "Service Interval", accessed by pressing the right button on the steering wheel when the main graphic in the right hand screen is is indicating temperatures/pressures etc, starts with mileage from new and after every service. If mileage is not growing at the minimum rate then it switches to showing time to next service.

If you get "Service the Engine Now" on the main screen it's because you have ignored all warnings. Normally at start up, if a service is due, the right hand screen will show "xxx" miles/days to oil change/service.
