Front Brake Pad Replacement

Hi, looking to do a DIY front brake pad replacement, looks really straight forward and the car is no longer under warranty. The only issue is, there seem to be many variations on what pads are required depending on what site I visit and who I ring. Most of the loacal motor factors round here haven’t got a clue and don’t stock them anyway.

Does anyone know what pads are required for a 2015 Macanporsche S Diesel 258bhp model (silver callipers)?

Does anyone know if the callipers are the same as used on any other cars like Audi?

Thanks

Presume you don't want to just buy the pads from Porsche - easy and expensive option.

I believe the calipers are only Porsche - different from Audi etc..

I would check that you have the correct torx sockets as I think they may be "Porsche torx sockets"!

I would quite like to change both discs and pads myself as I think Porsche charge something like £2000.

..and I think you’ll need the correct tool to wind back the pistons...

a quick search from the USA forum.....where he uses genuine parts

Unfortunately my nearest Porsche is an hour away and working all week I struggle for tome to get over there on a Sat morning.

The tools shouldn’t be an issue, I’ve got and can borrow the bits required. I did see that post, the picture of the pad on there does not resemble the pictures used by many of the car parts sites.

For example euro car parts shows:

Shame they’re not the same as Audi, would have made this a lot easier :)

According to the Brembo site, these are the replacement pads:

From their page - https://www.bremboparts.com/europe/en/catalogue/porsche-macan-95b-3-0-s-diesel/000100640-1

Hope that helps, let us know how you get on......

Just had brake wear warning light up at 33,500 miles, front pads and discs replaced (2016 Turbo) OPC price £931 🤒 The pads alone were £225. If you have all the tools and can match the pad, the Euro Car site gives you the picture/details and currently they have a new year sale code, choose Brembo. Just check the disc wear though as in my case they told me that the disc wear was nearer the limit than the pad. If you sort it with pads only come back on and make my day by telling us that you did it for under £100 😖😉

Thanks Nick that’s super useful and they do look like the ones in the DIY thread linked above. I think I’ve found some on here:

https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod135422/Brake-Pads-FRONT-Porsche-Macan-30-S---30-Diesel_2_2_2_2/

It’s a shame I can’t get them from euros website as that 50% off code would have been ideal. However I’m pretty sure the ones listed on there won’t actually fit.

Mike, I didn’t even attempt to ask Porsche for a price as didn’t want to fall off my seat, haha. Mines done 36k and whilst the wear indicator had just come on, the discs actually seem OK, they have a very slight lip but definitely don’t need replacing just yet.

It’s a 2015 and so is also due the PDK oil change but finding somewhere other than Porsche which will do that is proving even harder than sorting these pads :)

£171.70 off for genuine pads from Design911. £130.95 for Brembo.

Should be an extra 20% off that at the moment as well.

On the PDK change, you can buy the filter / oil without any real issue, but you need PIWIS to carry out the change so the parts wouldn't really help.

Turns out it’s plus Vat and £10 delivery on this prices. Managed to get some OE pads from a local motor factors for £120, still pricey but is what it is.
